3D Printed musical recorder

In 2011 in a fit of insomnia I got the idea in my head that a 3D printed recorder and modeled something that looked right, but wasn't based on any actual understanding of how a recorder makes sound. It didn't work but it did launch a collaborative project with the thingiverse community that ended with a completely functional musical instrument from a 3D printer.

This was before I had a 3D printer so iteration consisted of me changing the design, uploading it, and changing it again after getting feedback.

In the end I knew it worked when YouTube user Landru613 uploaded a video of the recorder in action.

The 3D printed recorder and it's variations are available on YouMagine.
